Energy Efficiency Award Bestowed to Colorado-Based New Town Builders

New Town Builders, a Colorado-based homebuilder won two awards for its Net Zero Energy home design at the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) International Builders’ Show (IBS). This year’s winners were announced in Las Vegas at the annual IBS event. “We want to be a company that makes a difference,” New Town CEO Gene Myers said. “The ultra-high-efficiency home world is relatively small, and it is a privilege to be recognized by our industry as delivering the very best in environmental science and design. More importantly, we hope that our example can lead more builders to deliver high-efficiency design at an affordable cost.”

Denver Home Builders Bring Home the Gold

Local home builders, designers, architects and marketing and advertising officials claimed about a dozen top awards for local projects and marketing efforts at the National Association of Home Builders’ Show held last week in Las Vegas. Denver-based New Town Builders captured two awards. Both were for its Net Zero Energy home. New Town’s ArtiZEN Plan was named Best in Green among Single-Family Production Homes by National Association of Home Builders. This is the first year NAHB has given Best in Green Awards, and just nine of these prestigious honors were bestowed.

New Town Builders Wins Housing Innovation Award

The U.S. Department of Energy has named New Town Builders the winner of its highest housing innovation award, recognizing the sustainable production builder as the standard bearer for zero energy ready homes. It's the second consecutive year Denver-based New Town has received the Zero Energy Ready Home Grand Award. the builder was selected as the winner from seven finalists and innovation award winners in the Production Builder Awards category. Zero energy ready homes must meet rigorous requirements that ensure outstanding levels of energy savings, comfort, health and durability.

New Town Builders Wins third straight 'Green Home of The Year'

New Town Builders has won the coveted ‘Green Home of the Year’ Award for the third year in a row. Their Zero Energy homes in the Z.E.N. (Zero Energy Now) Collection at Stapleton - an entire community of Zero Energy homes are 90 to 100% more energy efficient than a typical new home. Presented by the Home Builders Association of Metro Denver, the prestigious MAME Awards have established themselves as the Academy Awards of home building by honoring leaders in the new home industry who set the standard of excellence with their major achievements in home building.

Denver's New Town Builders nabs 2nd straight Innovation Award from DOE

For a second straight year, Denver-based New Town Builders has won a top award from the U.S. Department of Energy for innovation and energy efficiency. New Town Builders was named the grand award winner among ALL production builders nationwide in the DOE's annual Housing Innovation Awards. The DOE innovation awards "recognize forward-thinking contractors and builders for delivering extraordinary energy efficiency while ensuring superior comfort, health and durability in new and existing homes," said David Danielson, the department's assistant secretary for energy efficiency and renewable energy.

New Town Builders has committed to a new way of building. The Denver area production builder hopes to convert all of its product lines to zero energy-ready construction by the end of next year. “Our goal is to be 100% U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Zero Energy Ready certified on all of our single-family homes,” said Bill Rectanus, vice president of New Town Builders, which plans to build 150 single-family homes in the Denver metro area next year.

New Town announced in 2012 that every home it builds at Stapleton will earn a Challenge Home certification from the U.S. Department of Energy showing that it is a zero energy-ready home with a super-efficient building shell and all the wiring in place for installation of a rooftop solar photovoltaic system.
